DJI Phantom 3 Standard is the new entry level quadcopter that DJI introduced recently to further lower the price point and barrier of entry in hopes to attract an even broader audience.

The US price tag of $799 is 200 bucks lower than the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and could even be considered affordable. At least inthe more fortunate part of the world. The capabilities of the new DJI Phantom 3 Standard vary in the sense of being better or worse compared to the higher price models. For instance it has a 2.7K camera which is better than the 1920x1080p (less than 2K) resolution of the Phantom 3 Advanced. At the same time it does not have the Lightbridge downlink built in which is characteristic of the Advanced and Pro versions of DJI Phantom 3.

As those of you who follow our social feeds should already be aware of, we recently had a chance to do an unboxing and maiden flight with the brand new DJI Phantom 3 Standard. As part of our visit to a great startup conference in the Philippines called Geeks on a Beach, I had the most amazing time and got to know some great folks from Unmanned Systems Consulting (Teejay Teodoro) and RC Victory World  (Romson Velez) which is the top DJI dealer in the Philippines and a great man cave for RC enthusiasts. With the amazing support from Hubnob TV and their professional filming team, we decided to use some spare time while in Manila to film this DJI Phantom 3 Standard unboxing video. The Standard just arrived to Manila a few days prior to my arrival, so it was really exciting to share this experience with fellow drone geeks. Hope you enjoy the video and feel free to comment below.
